World U20s trophy standings after matchday 1

Uruguay sits top after match day one of the 2019 World Junior trophy that saw them bag a 63-11 win over Kenya U20 Chipu on Tuesday in Brazil.

The South Americans lead with 5 points and a points difference of +52 while Japan follow second in pool A with five points and a +32 points difference.

Hosts Brazil are third with one point while Kenya trail in pool A with no point and a deficit of -52.

Pool B sees Portugal lead with five points and a points difference of +32 after Tuesday’s 59-27 win over Hong Kong while Tonga are second with five points but with only one point as the difference.

Canada are third with two points while Hong Kong are fourth with no point.
