Heathens centre Michael Wokorach is the new Uganda 7s captain. He was named by head coach Tolbert Onyango.
Wokorach replaces skipper Eric Kasiita who is heading to USA to further his studies according to Uganda Rugby Union.
“We wish Eric Kasita all the best in his next endeavours. The team is entirely grateful for his efforts and time he put in. During his tenure, Uganda won the Africa cup twice”
“Michael is an experienced player, friend and an established leader who commands a lot of respect from the players. We wish him the best in the most important year of 7's in our history,” said URU on a facebook post.
Wokorach’s new assignment will be to lead the side to World Sevens Series qualifying tournament in Hong Kong where they play Japan, Chile and Georgia.
Meanwhile, an 18-man team for the two tournaments was named on Friday. The squad has Kenyan based Pius Ogena, Solomon Okia, Aaron Ofoyrowoth, Philip Wokorach and Joseph Aredo.
