Rugby players Frank Wanyama and Alex Olaba were on Tuesday released on a cash bail of Sh300,000 by a Milimani Law Court magistrate Zainab Abdul, according to Citizen TV.
Olaba and Wanyama were charged with gang-raping a woman in 2018 and were serving a 15-year prison sentence each but got a reprieve after the High Court ordered their retrial on June 30.
High Court ruled that there was no evidence that one of the key witnesses in the case was sworn in before taking to the stand.
The two Kenyan internationals have been warned not to interfere with witnesses lined up in the case lest it cancels the cash bail.
The case will be mentioned on July 21 for the purposes of fixing a hearing date.
