"This is from USIU's relationship with French Universities. In the past we used to receive these invites but this year we decided to attend the Centrale 7s."
Mwanja told Raga House that France based Simon Muniafu, who plays for Decazeville, will join USIU as a guest player to complete the 12-man squad.
Those travelling from Nairobi include Junior Onyango, Kevin Munene, Geofrrey Kiragu, Godfrey Kiragu, Joseph Kagimu, Michael Kimwele, Musa Shabani, Tobias Otieno, Isaiah Kulova and Martin Juma with Onyango being the captain.
"This is good for the next level, we it's good to look forward. Having played internationally I know what happens there and Universities need to go for these things."
"Universities, not only USIU, should organize more of this because there is a big gap between Universities and the Kenya Cup."
Centrale 7s is a unique student / companies rugby sevens tournament that takes place on an afternoon in France. It allows rugby players from French universities to meet partners in a forum, discuss with them, extend their network and maybe find an internship.
After lunch, the companies and the students participate in a sevens tournament to share the great values of rugby and forge on the pitch friendlier ties.
