Championship side USIU are set to begin their pre-season on Saturday Sep 22 when they travel to Uganda to face top Uganda Rugby side Mongers.

USIU will be in USIU for one weekend, immediately after Sevens in which will be their first 15s game of the 2018/19 campaign.

"We chose to go to Mongers in Uganda because some of our players come from that side and there is still that relationship," said USIU head coach Dennis Mwanja.

Mwanja also revealed that his side will not be competing at the inaugural Varsities League that has attracted top eight University and College sides from Kenya.
"After we come from Uganda we will turn our focus to Floodies which run for three weekes and eventually the Championship."

USIU are in pool A of the 2018/19 KRU Championship alongside Catholic University, Mombasa RFC, South Coast Pirates, Egerton Wasps and Ngong RFC. They kick-off the league against Ngong RFC on Saturday November 17.
