Upper Hill were on Wednesday crowned East Africa 7s champions after beating Laiser Hill 27-14 at the ongoing regional games -played in round-robin meaning Thursday's matches would have no impact.
Upper is already done with their matches while Laiser Hill will play Tanzania's Okeeswa but the result will not affect since the games are using head-to-head format.
Calvin Kahindi and Dennis Onyona scored two tries each with Pius Odera also going over once. Laiser Hill had beaten Hana International and hoped to upset Upper Hill but that was not the case.
Upper Hill coach Tom Walgwe was proud of his boys after "gutsy performance against a very strong Laiser Hill side. They stuck to our game plan which we varied according to our opponents and change our destiny after our bad start on day 1 with the Jinja loss."
"We enjoy this for a few weeks then begin planning for our offseason(third term), champions never sleep," Walgwe added.
In 2019 alone, Upper Hill dethroned Laiser Hill in two fronts after ruling the nationals held in Mombasa in April where they won 10-5.
To win the East Africa title, Upper Hill defeated Kiira College of Uganda, hosts Okeeswa, St. Peters Mumias, Hana International from Uganda and Laiser Hill losing only to Jinja SS of Uganda.
