Algeria's elevation denotes a steady rise in their game and general rugby structure, and will now take the place of Morocco who were relegated at the end of the 2018 Africa Gold Cup cum 2019 World Cup qualifier after finishing sixth and last.

Algeria, unranked by World Rugby, will now be rubbing shoulders with African powerhouse Namibia, Kenya, Uganda, Tunisia and Zimbabwe in next year's Africa Gold Cup.

Zambia on their part will have to bide their time in the Silver Cup for yet another year.

Algeria and Zambia qualified for the final of the Africa Silver Cup after winning the final set of Silver Cup pool games on Saturday 14 July 2018.

Algeria beat Ivory Coast 23-13 in Toulouse, France as Zambia had a 31-29 escape over Madagascar in Mufulira, Zambia, results that kept both top of their respective pools.

The Africa Silver Cup was split in two; Algeria, Senegal and Ivory Coast made up Silver Cup North group and played all their games in Toulouse, France as Botswana, Zambia and Madagascar made up Silver Cup South in Mufulura, Zambia. Games on either side were played between 8-14 July.

In the opening games Zambia downed Botswana 32-13 as Algeria took out hard fighting Senegal 22-18 at the Alain Coulon Stadium in Toulouse.
