Kenya Harlequins has acquired the services of Ugandan back-row Ronald Musaja from Nile Special League side Betway Kobs.

Musaja, who plays at number 8 for his national team will, according to club Chair Mike Lucas make his debut in Saturday’s away clash with Mwamba.

Add depth

While confirming the signing, Kenya Harlequins Chairman Mike Lucas said,

“Initial plan is to have him till the end of this season then we can see about the next one. We had monitored him for weeks and it’s good he’s accepted to become a Quin. He has been training with us and we expect to field on Saturday against Mwamba," he said to Raga House

Lucas adds that there was need to sign him to add depth to certain positions.

"There was need to bring him in as we needed to add depth to certain positions in our team," he said adding that another yet to be named Ugandan will soon be on board to join Musajja at Quins, once all paper work is complete.

Musaja was part of the Kabras Sugar set-up in the pre and early season but he returned to Uganda where he rejoined Kobs.

“Transfer between Kabras and the Ugandan club was not completed and he had to return but we’ve done everything as per World Rugby regulations to get him on board. He played his last match for Kobs on February 26”, said Quins team manger Jimmy Munene

He was part of the Kabras’ Squad that beat Top Fry Nakuru 29-5 in a friendly during the pre-season. He was also part of the squad that beat Kenya 30-25 in the reverse of the Elgon Cup in June last year at the Legend Rugby Club that ultimately won the competition on aggregate.

Interestingly Musajja featured against Quins while at Kabras in the season opener that the sugar men went on to lose 19-17

The back-row, who was named the MVP in the CAR Division 1B final, is currently studying masters in Strategic Management and is expected to transfer his classes to JKUAT Karen.
