Uganda has retained the Africa Cup 7s after beating Zimbabwe 10-7 in the final on Saturday, October 7, 2017, in Kampala.

The Cranes ran in two unconverted tries against Zimbabwe’s penalty try after a high-tackle by Pius Ogena. Nondies winger James Odong and Adrian Kasito scored the two tries for Uganda.

Uganda’s win means they will head to the 2018 Sevens World Cup in the USA alongside Zimbabwe.

The two will also take part at the World Sevens Series qualifiers in Hong Kong with Uganda set to return to Dubai and Cape Town 7s.

Uganda will also head to the Commonwealth Games in 2018 but Zimbabwe is not a member nation meaning the slot is handed to Zambia despite finishing fourth due to the fact that Madagascar was not a British Colony and therefore not a member of the Commonwealth.
