Kabras Sugar winger Philip Wokorach has been named in the Uganda Sevens squad that will take part at the Oktoberfest 7s on Friday and Saturday, September 30, 2017 in Germany.
Wokorach is named alongside Nondies winger James Odong for the two-day rugby sevens festival.
Their naming means they will automatically be out of Sepetuka 7s, the fourth round of the national sevens circuit, as well as Prinsloo 7s that comes before Sepetuka 7s.
They played key roles for Nondies and Kabras as the former has reached cup quarters in the two legs played while Kabras finished fourth at Kabeberi 7s.
Odong, in particular, put up a stellar performance as Nondies beat Mwamba in pool matches at Kabeberi 7s while Wokorach made the team of the tournament as well being the top scorer.
After Oktoberfest 7s, Wokorach and Odong will likely remain in Uganda to prepare for the Africa Sevens set for October 7 that falls on the same day with Dala 7s.
Uganda can’t afford to be without the two players as the Africa Cup 7s finalists will qualify for the Sevens World Cup as well as Commonwealth Sevens.
Eric Kasita will captain the Uganda Sevens with Ramadhan Govule, Michael Wokorach, Pius Ogena, Fred Odur and Adrian Kasiito being named in the squad.
Uganda are in pool B of the Oktoberfest 7s and will play Cape Town and Vancouver 7s champions England, Argentina and hosts Germany.
DHL Oktoberfest 7s is going to be the biggest rugby show Germany has ever seen welcoming HSBC World Sevens Series teams.
The inaugural DHL Oktoberfest Sevens will be held at the iconic Olympic Stadium of Munich, Germany.
