Uganda 7s name Wokorach, Odong for World Cup qualifiers

Uganda Sevens team to compete at the Africa Sevens this weekend has been named with regulars retaining their slots.

The Cranes are hosting the regional tournament that will see the finalists qualify for Sevens World Cup and Commonwealth Games and will be broadcast by Kwese Sports.

Kabras Sugar sensational winger Philip Wokorach is expected to steer Uganda to glory as he is named once again after taking part in Oktoberfest 7s in Germany.

Heathens centre Michael Wokorach brings his experience into the team to be captained by Eric Kasita with Pius Ogena, Adrian Kasiito and Joseph Aredo.

Nondies winger James Odong, Lawrence Sebuliba, Byron Oketayot, Solomon Okia, Kevin Kerumundu and James Ijongat are other players named.

Uganda is seeded top for the Africa 7s where they will play Ghana, Tunisia, Morocco and Zambia. They kick-off against Ghana at 10.58am before playing Zambia at 12.48pm, Morocco at 3pm and Tunisia at 4.28pm.

At the Oktoberfest 7s, Uganda beat Chile 17-12 before falling to Spain 33-12 in the ninth-place final.
