Mean Machine head coach Ramsfield Matekwa hands debut to Bob Onchonga and Kanyiri Kanyiri for Saturday’s Kenya Cup encounter with Homeboyz at UoN grounds from 4pm.

As Bob and Kanyiri start, it will be a second start for winger James Kangethe(pictured) with a hope of helping Machine bag a second win of the season. John Mark Awiti will make his debut from the bench.

Captain Shadon Munoko is available from Kenya 7s, Marvin Karungi, as expected, starts at scrum-half, Festsus Shiasi at fly-half while Valentine Odoyo continues his comeback by starting at fullback.

Breakdowns

“We expect a tough game from Homeboyz,” said Munoko. “We are however well prepared thank to the one week break we had. We went back to the drawing board and tried to rectify our mistakes from the Nondies game.”

“Our breakdowns and endurance to play the whole game is something we’ve looked at the whole of this week as well as defence.”

Fly-halves Trevor Asina and Bruce Odhiambo are still sidelined with injuries but Eric Muthama makes a place on the bench.

Ekirapa, Baka, Ben, Muganda, Reuben, Abonyo and Mutuku make the bench with Reuben set to play both ESS and Kenya Cup matches.

Homeboyz suffered a shock 14-20 defeat to struggling Strathmore Leos on matchday 8 and in a bid to bounce back head coach Simon Odongo makes eight changes for the short trip to UoN.

Kenya Simbas international Philip Ikambili is on for Joseph Amalemba(bench). Tight-head Meshack Akenga replaces Patrick Ouko(bench) while Polycarp Odhiambo returns for Imbuchi(bench) in the other front-row change.

Isogol moves from eight to blind-side since Steve ‘Security’ Otieno is back to see both Bruce Shiemi(bench) and F.Ouma not start.

Alvin ‘Buffa’ Otieno and Collins Shikoli are named as the wingers, William Diffu replaces Muhati(bench) at inside centre) while Leonard Mugaisi will be the fullback.

Machine and Homeboyz lastly met on Saturday Feb 11, 2017 at UoN where Homeboyz won 38-0. The clash finds the Deejayz sixth with 21 points while Eschuma Absolute are bottom with five points.
