Jeff Oluoch and Collins Injera scored two tries as Kenya 7s went down 19-14 to USA Rugby in their opening game of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics on Monday, July 27, 2021, in Japan.
Carlin Isles earned first points for the USA down the right-wing with the Mike Friday coached side doing well to leverage penalties and earn possession back for a line out on Kenya's 22. Martin Iosefu got USA's second but Kenya was able to break through Collins Injera on the left wing with Eden Agero adding the extras for 12-7 at the interval.
Kenya was back at it in the second half with Jeff Oluoch collecting a seven and thought they had more points on the board through Ambaka but Leuta was there to break it up for a 5-meter scrum.
Strong defence plus Carlin Isles-Maddison Hughes combination for a break free landed the USA a third try for the day to win the game.
Kenya's next game is at 1 pm against South Africa as the USA take on Ireland.
