Stanbic 7s continued this past weekend with Kenya Cup side Top Fry Nakuru hosting the fourth leg in the 2019 calendar, Prinsloo 7s at NAC.
Stanbic Mwamba carried the day to bag their second title of the circuit beating Homeboyz 12-7 in the cup final. The game went to sudden death and required a moment of 'don't crack under pressure' for Kulabu to win it.
On their way to the cup final, Mwamba beat Top Fry Nakuru 12-8 in cup semis and Kabras Sugar 19-12. They had beaten Northern Suburbs Cubs 22-12, KCB 19-12 and Mombasa RFC 36-0 in pool matches.
They won all six matches played over the weekend.
However, it was yet another defeat for Nakuru RFC who reached their fourth consecutive cup semifinal but couldn't sneak to the final. They beat Menengai Oilers 26-5 to the bronze.
Kabras Sugar had another taste of cup quarters but unfortunately met the eventual winners Mwamba in cup quarters losing 19-12. They beat Impala 31-12 in 5th place semis before losing to KCB 10-17 in the plate final.
Kenya Harlequin returned to div I having won div II in Kisumu but suffered two defeats on day one -27-5 to Nakuru and 34-7 to Homeboyz- as well as one win -12-17 over Blak Blad which saw them book Western Bulls in challenge trophy quarters and beat them 24-19. They would, however, lose 15-24 to Nondies in the challenge trophy final.
Daystar Falcons will play in the top division of Christie 7s after beating Mean Machine 10-5 to the Div II title on Sunday evening.
Kenya Harlequin will host the Christie 7s on Sep 1, 2019, at RFUEA Grounds, Nairobi.
