Championship side Kisumu RFC is now sponsored by Airline company Silverstone.
Kisumu RFC organizing secretary Rita Onyango told Raga House that the deal was signed in February 2018 and has since being a big boost to their activities.
Silverstone Air is Kenya’s leading domestic airline flying daily from Wilson Airport to Ukunda, Malindi, Lamu and Kisumu
The deal is worth Ksh3 million for the 2017/18 Championship season. The team also uses the Airline to attend some of their league matches.
"It has been a big relief. Transport is always a big issue to any team and this solved our problem especially for those matches in Nairobi and as far as Mombasa," said Rita.
"We are hoping the deal will continue to the national sevens circuit," adds Rita who notes "since they came on board things have not been like before and now we can't miss a game."
Kisumu RFC is currently fourth in the KRU Championship and is set to play Catholic Monks in the quarters with the winner advancing to semis. Semifinals winners will be promoted to the 2018/19 Kenya Cup.
With Menengai Oilers, Western Bulls and Mean Machine being strong favourites to be promoted, Rita says teams should be in for a shock. "It's fine been the underdogs, we will shock people. Our aim is to return to the Kenya Cup."
Bid Pesa have also come on board to sponsor the Lake side team as Rita says "we see a big future with them".
