Shujaa in tough pool for Sydney 7s

Shujaa, the national sevens team, has been handed a tough pooling after the Sydney pools were drawn following the conclusion of the Cape Town tournament, where Shujaa finished 13th with three points.

Shujaa are in Pool B with Cape Town runners up Argentina, France who dented their hope of a second successive main cup quarterfinal berth as well as out of form Wales. Argentina improved from Dubai 7s where they collected five points to collect 19 points in Cape Town to move up to fifth place with 24 points, France are eighth with 18 points while Kenya coming at position eleven with 13 points as Wales come a distant fourteen position with eight points after the first two legs; Dubai and Cape Town 7s.

In the other matches; hosts Australia are in the last group, Pool D alongside USA, Canada and Scotland with the other two groupings; Pool A and C, bringing together blockbuster match ups.

Cape Town champions and now series leaders New Zealand are drawn to go head-to-head with Fiji in Pool A that also features Samoa and Russia.

Sydney defending champions South Africa are drawn in Pool C where they are scheduled to face off with and England, Spain and 16th team Papua New Guinea as the Blitzboks look for some redemption after missing out on the Cape Town crown.

The Sydney 7s kicks off on January 26, with men's and women's competitions to be run over three days.

Pool A: New Zealand, Fiji, Samoa, Russia.
Pool B: Argentina, France, Wales, Kenya.
Pool C: South Africa, England, Spain, Papua New Guinea.
Pool D: Canada, USA, Australia, Scotland.
