Kenya Sevens forward Willy Ambaka is readying for a return to the World Sevens Series that starts in December with Dubai 7s.
Ambaka missed the last legs of last season as he was in New Zealand with Manawatu Turbos. He is now back in training with the team and up for selection for Dubai 7s.
“The build-up has been tough, I just joined the team like three weeks ago so am the one trying to catch up but the boys are looking sharp,” said Ambaka during Tuesday’s training session at Quins.
The Kenya Harlequins winger is pleased by the preparation they have had towards Dubai 7s with the coming season set to have Commonwealth Games in April and Sevens World Cup in July.
“I think we’ve prepared well, we going to take up the tournaments as they come and build up towards the big two(Commonwealth and World Cup). There is no priority; we will try to win each one of them. We work hard and we are ready for each one of them,” added Ambaka.
At Dubai 7s, Kenya 7s will play World Sevens Series reigning champions, South Africa, Singapore 7s champions Canada and Africa 7s champions Uganda.
“Really a tough pool in Dubai, everybody goes to the series to win; we just going to take each team at a time. Everyone is working hard trying to get something at the World Series, we just going to take them head on an hopefully we win,” concluded Ambaka.
