Australia and Fiji were the only nations to improve their positions after weekend games, each moving one up sit at third and ninth, respectively.

Wallabies edged out Ireland 18-9 in Brisbane ending their 12-match winning run. It marked a shift in ranking as Australia swapped place with England to sit third.

Ireland nonetheless stays second behind New Zealand who stepped on the gas at the weekend to hit France 52-11 having trailed the game 11-8 at half time.

England dropped from third for the first time this year after going down 42-39 to South Africa at Ellis Park. They led the game 24-3 at half time.

Wales 23-10 win over host Argentina at San Juan - their first win on Argentine soil in 14 years, did not have an effect on their ranking, as they stayed fifth, but it directly impacted on Fiji who gained from Pumas loss to improve to ninth and match their all time highest ranking.

Save for the upper shifts, many other internationals over the weekend had some point gains, but no positional changes.

In the coming weekend the 2019 Africa Gold Cup cum 2019 World Cup qualifiers take place. All the six participants go into it with unchanged ranking compared to last week. Namibia are still at 24th place ahead of Kenya (28), Uganda (37), Morocco (38), Tunisia (42), Zimbabwe (44) and Senegal (49).
