Sportpesa Quins winger Ginton Adongo is set to undergo a surgery after suffering an injury at last weekend’s Driftwood 7s in Mombasa.
Adongo went for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan on Monday which showed that his Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) and Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL) are completely torn and so the need for surgery.
He suffered the injury in the 17-0 win over Kisii RFC.
Kenya Sevens physio Lameck Bogonko says it takes six to nine months for one to return to active playing after tearing an ACL. This means Adongo will stay out until March 2018, a time Kenya Cup will be in the latter stages.
Adongo, who joined Quins in January 2017, was one of the top performing players in the 2016 National Sevens Circuit. He also made the Writers Kenya Cup Team of the Season.
Quins reached cup quarters at Driftwood 7s to bag 10 points ahead of this weekend's Kabeberi Sevens.
