By Eric Njiru | Fri 27 Sep, 2019 08:49

Xavier Bett and Antony Nyandigisi are named as Impala’s halfbacks for Saturday’s Floodies quarterfinal clash with Menengai Oilers at Impala Club from 5.50pm.

Coach Oscar Osir named up to four debutants in Givens Onyango and Bravin Onyango who join from Blak Blad, Frans Obudo from Nondies and Steve 'Security' Oteino from Homeboyz.

David Moenga and Douglas Ochako on the wings as Daniel Dindi and George Okowa pair at midfield. Fullback Quinto Oongo completes the back line.

Loose-head Dennis Karani will be joined by tight-head Emmanuel Otieno as Girvens Onyango starts at hooker. Lock partnership features Kenyan international Eric Kerre and Rainer Omondi as former captain Duncan Ekasi, debutants Clinton Musonye and Steve ‘Sec’ Otieno make up the backrow.

"Oilers are a well drilled possession side. They scrummage well too and enjoy taking risks. We will have to be on top of our game management,” said new head coach Mitch Ocholla.

“We have put in some hard yards and expect it to show. There are also some exciting players that have joined the stable”

Former Kenya U19 captain Tyson Okoth is joined by Franz Obudo, who joined from Nondies, on the bench as well as regulars Daniel Ndome, Bradley Ochieng and Bravin Mukoro.

Impala, who reached Floodies final in 2018, previously met Oilers on February 9 in Nakuru where they bagged a 22-24 win.

Winner between Impala and Oilers will play either Nondies or Homeboyz in cup semis. The other quarterfinals on Saturday will see Nakuru play Quins and KCB take on Blad.
