Two matches were played on Wednesday May 30, 2018 in the preliminary round of the Homeboyz Prescott Cup as race for quarterfinal shapes up.

Rift Valley Academy (RVA) hosted Lenana School in a game they won 31-5 while Nairobi School bagged an away 15-18 win over Strathmore School. Damu Changa also continued on Wednesday where RVA II beat Lenana II 10-5 and Strathmore II lost 17-18 to Nairobi School.

Nairobi's win over Strathmore means they bag their first points of the campaign, having lost their first two games; 3-28 at home to Ofafa Jericho and 22-0 loss to champions Upper Hill School. But they stay fourth in pool A with four points. Strathmore picked a losing point - their only points so far that keeps them rock bottom.

Strathmore's loss to Nairobi School left them win less in three attempts and look in danger of heading for the survival playoff considering their final game is against back-to-back champions Upper Hill. The bandits started the season with a 41-5 loss to Muhuri Muchiri on 12 May and two weeks later went down 23-5 to Ofafa Jericho.

Other than the Strathmore - Upper Hill tie, a Muhuri Muchiri - Nairobi School clash earmarked for June 2 at Alliance during the third festival will end the preliminaries in pool A.

RVA 31 Lenana School 5

RVA continued their dominance in pool B with a fourth straight win in their last group fixture, this time against visiting Lenana School aka Changez.

RVA scored six tries and added two conversions against Lenana's one unconverted try. The Kijabe boys, coached by Nate Reinchield, led 24-0 at half time.

Scrum half Micah Wagner was the toast for RVA as he claimed a hat-trick - the first and fifth tries in the first half, and the only try in the second half. Fullback Jared Jackson, flanker Janrich Volschenk - the 2017 Prescott Cup and 2018 Blackrock MVP - and fly half Micah Smith scored the other first half tries in between Wagner's. Micah Smith converted Wagner's first and third tries, and that of Volschenk, to end the game with a personal hauls of 11 points.

Lenana's lone try was scored at the onset of the second half through fly half Emmanuel that temporarily had the game at 24-5.

Coming to the Lenana game, RVA had collected three straight wins; 7-63 over returning RVA, 20-5 over Mangu and a walkover (24-0) over Alliance High. They firm their place atop pool B with 19 points after the latest bonus win.

Lenana school are second to RVA with five points after playing two games, the points coming from their 24-0 win over St. Mary's on 12 May. They have two pending games against Alliance and Mangu.

The Homeboyz Prescott Cup continues on Saturday June 2 with the third festival at Alliance High School in Central province with three games on the cards with further games in Damu PEvu and newly introduced Damu II.
