South Coast Pirates will host Mombasa RFC in a second championship preseason friendly on Saturday October 27, 2018 at St.Joseph, Ukunda.
A statement from Pirates on Wednesday said, “Pirates will welcome their arch-rivals Mombasa to the south coast hoping for a reversal of fortune after a late penalty sealed the victory for Mombasa in the friendly played on October 13th.”
The two sides met last Saturday with former Kenya Cup side, Mombasa RFC, winning 13-10.
The match will be the first preseason friendly which Pirates have hosted prior to the start of the 2018/19 Championship season and the trophy will be feted to the team which possesses the highest aggregate score between the two.
Midfielder Charles Tendwa and Sudi Hussein scored the points for SCP during that occasion but a late penalty to Mombasa proved disadvantageous for Pirates, whose quest to claim the George Barbour Memorial Cup is expected to receive a huge boost given the hosting of the second and final leg.
SCP have played only two preseason matches so far; winning 27-14 at Malindi RFC before the agonising three point defeat to Mombasa a little under a fortnight ago.
Pirates are preparing for third edition of the Championship, which begins with a home tie against Egerton Wasps on 17th November.
