The Kenya 7s squad to Madrid for inter-regional high-performance preparation events will be co-captained by Nelson Oyoo and Herman Humwa.
Head Coach Innocent 'Namcos' Simiyu named the squad to Madrid on Friday with Collins Injera a key figure left out. The tournament is being hosted by the Federación Española de Rugby (FER) and supported by World Rugby will feature up to 12 men’s and 12 women’s teams participating across two successive weekends (20/21 February) and (27/28 February).
“The main target is to get our players at par with fitness as we haven’t had rugby for almost 11 months. Our attack structures, where are we in responding to our plays will be one of the key focus. The players named here are the ones we’ve had in all sessions.”
A further update on contingency schedule for the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series 2021 will be provided early in the new year, with a return to a full competition schedule anticipated for the 2022 edition.
Alvin Marube, Bush Mwale and Levy Amunga are named as non-travelling subs.
