Kenya Cup champions KCB bagged their third win of the season defeating hosts Kenya Harlequin 13-22 in the fourth round on Sat Dec 8, 2018.
The bankers were first to go infront through Darwin Mukidza penalty conversion 10 minutes into the game.
Martin Wanjia, who crossed over from Railway's based Mwamba RFC, would even the scores slotting in a penalty in the 22nd minute. Score would remain even 'till the final minute of the first half.
KCB would run phases through to the open wing from a lineout, finding in-form Jacob Ojee who completed the run with a try at the corner. Mukidza to fluff the conversion attempt, his team leading 8-3 into the first break.
KCB seemed to regroup at the break and pose better contest at the scrummage. This would soon bear fruits as they slotted in a converted try through Peter Waitere, the Ruaraka based lions leading 15-3. Moments later, Curtis Lilako would stretch the deficit further for Quins to catch up landing a try for KCB. Score reading 22-3.
Quins pulled back with a drop goal of Jasper Ochien. They cut it further but Aaron Ofoywroth would not even the uprights. KCB still held the lead at 22-6.
Defenses would be beefed up both ways, with the gents being sent to the bin. KCB's Oliver Mang'eni was first for an improper tackle followed by Brian Nyikuli. Kenya Harlequin's Alex Olaba also sent to the bin a few moments to full time. With both teams not relenting on defense, the scores would remain unchanged through to the final whistle.
