Menengai Oilers and Mean Machine continued with winning ways as they beat UoE and Catholic University respectively in the sixth round of the Championship.
Oilers beat UoE 26-0 as Machine saw off Catholic Monks 32-8 at Catholic University.
Both teams earned bonus points and Oilers leads Machine but both at 24 points with Western Bulls following at third.
Rodgers Audi bagged a brace for Oilers with Andrew Odera and Amos Onyiko scoring the other two tries as the latter completed two conversions.
“We didn’t have a proper referee, that affected our play,” said Oilers coach Gibson Weru. “ We had made 13 changes, it’s good we got the win without our top players. The main aim is to improve as a team and play Kenya Cup next year.”
At Catholic University, Alfred Orege, Kevin Omondi, Charles Kinyanjui and Lesley Murimi crossed over for Machine with Grevious Onyino winning a penalty try after a neck tackle. Obonyo made one conversion as Marvin Karungi scored a penalty.
In the next game week, Menengai Oilers head to UoE for the return leg as Machine goes to South Coast Pirates.
