England 7s star Dan Norton reached another milestone as he became the first sevens player to score 300 tries in the HSBC World Sevens Series.

Norton scored his 300th try in style at Dubai 7s on Friday Nov 30, 2018 as revved up the motor with a 34 km/hr scorcher against Canada.

Aged 30, Norton is now 29 tries head of Kenya’s Collins Injera who is second in the list of men’s all time tries scored. Norton’s 300 touch downs have come from 385 matches played for England.

Injera, who is two years old than Norton, has played 408 matches but England have had better performances than Kenya recently.

Both Injera and Norton are almost equal in everything as the Englishman is only 2cm taller and 2kg more than the Kenyan legend.

Injera is not at Dubai 7s because he was competing at the 2019 Rugby World Cup repechage tournament that ended last week. He could be selected for Hamilton 7s in January.

Norton spoke to England rugby describing his best moments in rugby 7s and said:

“We’ve had some amazing memories playing with the sevens, we’ve won tournaments, I was lucky enough to be selected for the Olympics.

“But for me, it’s probably my third tournament I was playing at London 7s in 2009. I didn’t play much of the tournament at all, but I came on in the final against New Zealand and we were down 19-5 I think it was. We clawed a try back and I got told I was going on with two minutes to go, thankfully I was able to get a try in the corner to take us to extra time.

“We were able to scrap and fight after coming from behind and we got the win in the corner so that was an amazing feeling to be part of that. Having my dad there watching and my uncles watching at home was incredible when you look back on it."
