Northern Suburbs coach Simon Jawchire is targeting a Cup semi at the Driftwood 7s division II this weekend in Mombasa.

Surburbs are in pool D with MKU Stingerz, Makueni RFC and Shepherds.

“It’s not an easy pool. Target is to reach main cup quarters on day one then day two we start with winning the first game,” said Jawchire.

The Nairobi based side returns to sevens action two months after reaching Embu 7s final where they lost to franchise side Samurai 7s 20-7.

“Many of the players playing for Makueni have been featuring for SEKU in the KUSA 7s and I believe they have something. MKU Nairobi will be the strongest team technically although I am yet to see them properly,” added Jawchire.

Jawchire adds that he now has a regular team as a couple of players have since cleared high school and joined university.

“Those who are in school have gone back but most of the senior players are available. It’s our first time to go to Driftwood 7s and we hope to be there for the next five legs,” concluded Jawchire.
