Nakuru romp past spirited Mean Machine

Top Fry Nakuru claimed five points thanks to a 29-19 win over Mean Machine in an entertaining match day five Kenya Cup 18/19 encounter at the Nakuru Athletic Club (NAC).

The victors scored four triesĀ  through Edwins Makori, Duncan Abuyeka, Caccius Omollo and a penalty try while Festus Shiasi, Samuel Mejja and Dominic Mogendi delivered Machine's three tries.

The students took the lead early on when right winger Victor Shaviya dotted at the corner after good interplay in mid field had created space out wide. Outside centre Maurice Murimi added the extras for a 7-0 lead.

Falling behind served as a wake up call to the hosts who from them camped in the Mean Machine 22 and were soon rewarded with a penalty try. Soon after, out-half Martin Muita knocked over a penalty for a 10-7 lead.

Eschuma then wrestled back the lead as lock Dominic Mugendi exploited a pocket of space in the Nakuru defence to dot down under the posts. Again, Maurice Murimi was spot on from the tee.

Caccius Omollo ensured Nakuru went into the shades while on the box seat with a try off a powerful carry from close range. Muita's conversion attempt was on the money. halftime, 17-12.

Nakuru scored the first points of the second-half through lock Edwins Makori but Muita's conversion sailedide. Not long after, they got their fourth, this time through outside-centre Duncan Abuyeka. Replacement fullback Collins Onyango added the extras for a 29-12 lead.

Machine tried to get back into the match but a converted Samuel Mejja try wasn't enough.
