Topfry Nakuru snapped their three-match winless streak after a laboured 28-6 win over visiting Black Blad at the Nakuru Athletics Club (NAC).

Black Blad was the better of the two for the better part of the first half and it was not until the hour mark when they finally caved in, allowing the home side to sneak in three tries; The 7-6 halftime scoreline is a testament to the closeness of the contest.

The raw-boned Monate Akuei, Philip Kwame, Charles Odhiambo and the returning Gramwell Bunyasi scored a try each with Levy Amunga's pair of three-pointers all the Thika road-based students managed.

The away side took the lead soon after kick-off via a Levy Amunga penalty and would stay in the lead till the 16th minute when Kelvin Kioko's bullocking run laid a foundation for a try by Charles Odhiambo. Martin Muita converted but  Blad''s chief playmaker Levy Amunga reduced the deficit from the tee briefly after.

Martin Muita had a chance to put the Mitch Ocholla further ahead before the sides headed to the shades but his penalty was off target. The first 15 minutes of the second half were scoreless, with Levy Amunga,s wayward penalty attempt the best scoring chance within that period.

As the clock ticked past the 60th minute the maroon shirts waned allowing Monate Akuei a try which replacement stand-off Henry Ayah converted. Next on the scoreboard was the talismanic Philip Kwame who bagged over from close range after patient phases from Wanyore. Ayah sliced the posts. 21-6 to Nakuru.

As the end neared, Brian Maina carried the ball for 20m before releasing Gramwell Bunyasi , in his first fifteens match since Apri 2016, for the bonus winning try.
