KCB assistant coach Dennis Mwanja is set to be named the next Kenya 7s coach, Raga House understands.
Raga House sources say the Kenya Rugby Union board settled on Dennis Mwanja ahead of former coaches Paul 'Pau' Murunga and Innocent 'Namcos' Simiyu as well as Nick Wakley.
Mwanja's announcement is expected this week as we understand 9/12 board members were in favor of the decision to have the former Kenyan international take over reigns left by New Zealander at the onset of COVID 19.
Further reports say Namcos was thrown out due to the Paris 7s fiasco in 2018 while Pau was judged from when he was the head coach -2018/19 season- even though he didn't have a full squad to pick players from.
Mwanja won multiple Kenya Cup titles as KCB assistant coach with his last title coming in September 2019 when he led the bankers to the National sevens after Driftwood 7s in Mombasa in what was a formidable season.
He's coached Championship outfit USIU Martials on a fulltime basis before returning to KCB to deputize Curtis Olago.
The 39-year-old played 147 matches for Kenya 7s at the HSBC World Sevens Series scoring 285 points from 57 tries.
