Monks too good for TUK in Varsity League opener

Championship side Catholic University aka Catholic Monks registered a winning start at the inaugural Varsity League beating TUK 44-14 on Saturday Sep 29, 2018 at UoN grounds. 

Monks ran in five tries in the first half and three more in the second half against TUK's two converted tries. 

They pick to pick a bonus win of five points and go top in pool B ahead of afternoon's clash between Mean Machine and UoE Trojans. 

Maxwell Omondi, Brian Ayimba, Geoffrey Okwach and lock Oyicho Edward went over in the second half with fly-half Johnstone Olindi being sent to the bin. Olindi came back to convert Geoffrey Okwach's back to back tries before doing so to his try.

Centres Balla Onyinyo and Ziki Omoro scored TUk's tries that were converted by fly-half Antony Omondi.

Catholic's next match will be against UoE Trojans on Saturday October 6 when they host the second leg of the Varsity League. TUK have a mountain to climb when they meet Mean Machine next Saturday at 4pm.
