Relegated from the Kenya Cup last season, Mombasa RFC and Kisii RFC begun their Championship lives with wins on matchday one of the 2018/19 season.
Kisii were 11-3 winners over promoted side Kitale RFC as Mombasa RFC beat Ngong RFC 13-7.
Patrick Mwakina and Absalom Mugubi scored for Mombasa with Elias Gitonga getting a successful penalty. Deuke Monday scored Ngong's try that was converted by Dennis Momanyi.
Jeremy Chimwani scored Kitale’s three points as they now focus on their first home match against UoE come next weekend. Scrum-hlaf ark Mwangi scored a penalty and a try for Kisii in the second half to complete the as the two sides drew 3-3 at the interval.
Kisii RFC will be in Western next Saturday Nov 24 to play Western Bulls.
