Masinde Muliro University of Science And Technology has named a contingent of 16 players who will represent the varsity at the third round of the national 7s circuit, Prinsloo 7s.
The varsity has retained a bulk of the squad members who did duty in Driftwood and Kabeberi with Morris Muriithi, Elvis Amunya and Martin Masika, a first-year who will be making his debut, the only additions. The Nationwide side is coached by Dr. Achieng Ahaya, a former Kakamega high school teacher and former Kenya U19 assistant coach John Asila.
MMUST, who are banded in pool I alongside TUK, Embu and Kabarak, had a great start to the season after going all the way to the Division II finals in Mombasa but failed to reproduce the same in Kabeberi. Skipper Samuel Mbeche is however confident that the boys will bounce back in Nakuru.
"We were unable to perform well in Kabeberi dues to injuries but the boys have recovered and we are ready to go; we are targeting to finish top and earn promotion to division 1," said the third-year student.
