Mfalme Select are the champions of the inaugural Eldoret Sevens , beating Resolution Kisii RFC 14-7 in a hotly contested cup final showdown.
John Ochar and Salamba Eliud crossed the white wash for the victors and had their efforts converted by Isaac Wafula, the lone try for Kisii RFC was slotted in by Ian Amara who also closed the outing as the tournaments top try scorer, crossing the white wash twelve times.
It was a meeting of foes, at the technical end, as coaches from either side had at one time featured for Mwamba RFC. Kisii's tactician was Kevin 'Bonke' Atandi while Mfalme Select's was Ben Amboko.
Star studded Kabras
Mfalme, sponsored by Buffalo Maize Millers, slummed out a star-studded Kabras Sugar 5-0 through Isaac Wafula's lone try to end the semis clash at 5-0 and proceed to the cup final interestingly the team sponsor's Director, Rodney Kili, doubled up as halfback and Team Manager.
"The team was brilliant, they followed the tactical script to the latter. We were ranked outsiders, since being a select side we had players from varying teams in the North Rift and Western block,But we proved our worth as the tournament progressed" were the sentiments of Coach Ben Amboko.
They waded off threat from Eldoret RFC at the Cup quarters on their way up. Having won the cup, Mfalme were awarded Ksh. 100,000 cash prize while second placed Kisii were awarded Ksh. 50,000
