Mean Machine on course to defend Varsity Cup

Mean Machine are on course to defend the Varsity Cup after qualifying for cup semis to be held on Saturday October 12, 2019 at Catholic University. 

Machine beat Cooperative University 17-5 putting an outstanding performance in the second half scoring 17 unanswered points after Alfred Maina had put the Karen based side ahead. 

Machine will play hosts Catholic Monks in the semifinals after the latter beat TUM Marines 13-12 coming back from 5-6 at the interval. Elvis Namusasi put 6-0 up TUM Marines through a penalty and drop goal. 

Masika Sabato reduced the deficit with an unconverted try right at the stroke of halftime with Max Omondi scoring a penalty and and a try to give Monks a lead only for Namusasi to reduce with gap with two successful penalties. 

UoE beat DeKUT 8-7 to proceed to cup semis where they'll play Kenyatta University's Blak Blad. After a 0-0 draw at halftime, Sirniel Luvutse drilled in three points for UoE but Spencer Ochieng secured a try for DeKUT within three minutes with Boniface Saint adding the extras. 

UoE however sealed it with a five-pointer to head to semis.
