Mean Machine captain Festus Shiasi is optimistic they will stop high-flying Strathmore Leos when the two sides meet on matchday 13 of the 2019/20 KRU championship.
The clash will be staged at the Cage, Strathmore University with Leos heading to the match at the back of 12 consecutive wins.
Strathmore lead on 57 points having failed to pick a bonus only on three occasions. Machine are third, 17 points behind but have a game in hand.
“We can stop them,” said Shiasi. “We are now full house as couple of players(Daniel Oluoch, Ian Wando, Samuel Mejja, Ben Mwangi, Aron Otieno etc) have resumed training and will be up for selection this weekend.”
First leg meeting between these two sides was a close contest but it was the visitors, Leos, who won 16-17 at UoN on matchday two.
“Strathmore have been good this season but we have to beat them. They are really good, heavy and well-conditioned but we believe we are better than that, we are now on form.”
Both Machine and Leos were relegated from the Kenya Cup last season but have launched a campaign to return back immediately.
With only four matches to go, Machine may miss a direct semi qualification as MMUST are second on 50 points, 10 ahead of Machine.
Machine can only hope to win their postponed game -against Egerton Wasps on Wednesday Feb 5 at Egerton Wasps- then hope MMUST lose one game for them to stand a chance of finishing second.
