Mean Machine has been relegated from the Kenya Cup after suffering a 25-10 defeat to Impala Saracens on the 15th round of the season Sat March 30, 2019 at RFUEA Grounds.
Machine went into the Impala clash needing a five-point win, as well as win next weekend against Nakuru RFC , but they fell short to their own detriment.
They remain 12th with 11 points as tenth placed Blak Blad worsened things for the UoN side after picking a losing bonus in their 26-29 defeat to Top Fry Nakuru to open an unassailable eight point gap.
Machine won only two matches this season, beating both Blad and Strathmore at home but lost the other 14 games.
In 2017, Machine were relegated for the first time in 40 years but went on to win the Championship and secure immediate promotion back to the Kenya Cup for the 2018/19 season.
The other team to be relegated will be either Blad or Strathmore Leos with the latter suffering a 54-7 defeat to Kabras in Kakamega. Interestingly, the two meet on the last match day at Strathmore University.
A draw will be enough for Blak Blad to survive. Leos have 14 points, four behind Blak Blad and need a bonus win.
