Kwale High emerge champions of the coast

Kwale High School completed a memorable rise to the nationals after defeating Kaya Tiwi school to be crowned champions of the coast during the inter-county games held in Kwale County.

Already undefeated in the sub-county and county games, Kwale added another gear to their all round performance and dug deep to secure a slot in the nationals for the first time since 2010.

A close shave against Shimo La Tewa whom they narrowly defeated 20-17 in the cup quarter final before beating Malindi High School 12-0 in semi final meant the hosts Kwale would play sub-county rivals Kaya Tiwi in the cup final in a fourth meeting between the two since the start of the year.

Kwale held the upper hand with two wins and a draw and while Kaya Tiwi, under SCP midfielder Kevin Amiani were also regarded as close favorites for the tittle, it was the hosts who upset the defending champions with a finals triumph on home soil.

The two will now represent Coast region during the nationals set to be played from 20th July in Eldoret.
