Kenya Rugby Union secretary Oduor Gangla says they continue to receive applications for the positions of Kenya Sevens coaches that were advertised last week.
Gangla, who spoke on the sidelines of Dala 7s-Vivo Energy Sponsorship ceremony, says they hope to have everything sorted by the end of September.
"The process has just started. Application process closes end of day on Friday after which we will now embark on short-listing and then interviews before we get to top three candidates who will then be presented to the board for the final decision."
KRU seeks to find a replacement for Innocent Simiyu whose contract ends on October 17, 2018 and has been quoted saying he will not apply for the job.
"Certainly Simiyu has done a very good job. In a very long time we now had a coach for two years and we've seen the benefit of that."
"When you look at the overall decision of the board, there were three key objectives which Simiyu had along the HSBC World Sevens Series, Commonwealth games and the Sevens World Cup."
"We had a very good performance in the Sevens series achieving our target but also as a board you look at our policy and again it's not uncommon even in the private sector that at the end of the contract you put up the position so that people fight for it competitively and give yourself a chance of getting the best man for the job."
With South Africa having started their training on Monday and England already contracted their 20 players for next season, Gangla says they will be rolling out a full programme after Christie Sevens.
"We are going to have a full programme rolled out I think the coach will be ready by the end of the month. Contracting and all those other things will be ready. Work is still ongoing, we are already in the selection process we had selectors attend all the four tournaments and Simiyu is also still working."
Africa 7s is set for mid-October in Tunisia with Safari 7s following on November 10 -two tournaments Kenya Sevens will take part in.
"We will certainly attend the Africa 7s I think there will be a team selected by end Christie 7s," concluded Gangla.
