The Kenya Rugby Union Board has announced the appointment of former director Ian Mugambi as the Hon.Secretary.
A statement from KRU on Thursday, shortly after Kenya 7s team naming confirmed Mugambi's appointment.
"The Kenya Rugby Union wishes to announce to all affiliates, sponsors and the rugby fraternity that it has appointed Ian Mugambi as the Hon. Secretary of the KRU Board," read the statement.
Mugambi served as KRU director four two terms of two years each but lost his re-election bid in last week's elections. He garnered 23 votes to come fifth and miss the top four positions.
"This appointment is made pursuant to Clause 10.10 of the KRU constitution which empowers the Board to fill a casual vacancy of an Officer.of the Union."

Mugambi, who joined KRU from Kenya Cup side Blak Blad, takes over from Oduor Gangla who was elected new KRU chairman last week. He will serve in the Finance and Admin committee alongside treasurer Joshua Aroni.
In the last one year, Mugambi was part of commercial committee that has three sub-committees covering national squads, test matches and safari 7s, and local competitions. He was alongside former director Ezekiel Owuor and vice-chairman Thomas Opiyo.
