KRU appoints new Director of Rugby

Thomas Odundo is the new Director of Rugby at the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU).

Odundo, former Kenya Coach between 2004 and 2006 came out tops following re-advertisement of the position, and will take up the office,from 1 august 2016, vacated by Michael Tank Otieno in late October 2015.

Pivotal role

“This is a challenge and an opportunity I’ll approach with total commitment,” said Odundo in a statement.

“I’m delighted to have been offered this opportunity to play a pivotal role in ensuring the strength and well-being of Kenyan rugby.”

On his part, KRU CEO Ronald Bukusi said of Odundo appointment, “Thomas has been involved with the game from his club days at Kenya Harlequin and he is a determined and focused individual who will bring immense passion, energy and rugby knowledge to the role.”

“We look forward to drawing on his knowledge and experience,”

Some of Odundo’s tasks include providing technical leadership on the game, direction from a policy perspective in line with the strategic plan, leading and managing a team of Development Officers - ensuring that they are appropriately skilled and motivated, among others.
