Kisumu County Government has moved to assure hosts Kisumu RFC and the Kenya Rugby fraternity of security ahead of this weekend’s Dala 7s at Mambo Leo stadium, Kisumu town.
In a letter sent to the Kenya Rugby Union, Prof Peter Anyang Nyong’o, the Kisumu Governor, says, "I have learnt of the plans by the KRU to host the finals of the Dala 7s this weekend. The county government and the people of Kisumu warmly welcome the teams and fans to our county and the City of Kisumu."
"We assure you of the County Government’s commitment to maintaining a conducive environment, in terms of security and facilities necessary for the sporting event and other socio-economic activities of the visiting teams and fans.”
“We wish you a successful tournament and a fulfilling stay in the county,” added Nyong’o.
There were fears Dala 7s could be disrupted by demonstrations being held in different part of the country as far as repeat-presidential is concerned.
The National Sevens Circuit will conclude at Dala 7s where the overall winner will be confirmed. Kabras Sugar, Impala Saracens, Homeboyz, Oilers and KCB are in contention for the series.
Kabras won Christie and Sepetuka 7s, Impala took Kabeberi, KCB won Prinsloo while Homeboyz won Driftwood 7s.
