Four teams have been relegated from national sevens circuit division 1 after challenge trophy quarters at the Driftwood 7s on Sunday September 3, 2017.
Kisii RFC, Western Bulls, Mombasa RFC and KCA will all play in the second division of Kabeberi 7s unless they are invited.
Kisii lost 22-5 to KCB, Bulls went down 24-12 to Strathmore, KCA lost 26-7 to Blak Blad while Mombasa RFC lost to Mwamba RFC.
Rules state that teams that fall off the challenge trophy quarters - to land in the shield semis will be relegated to Division 2 of the next event - unless they get an express invite from the next tournament host who have been handed the prerogative to invite any three teams of their choice.
Mwamba RFC will host the Kabeberi 7s on Saturday, September 9, 2017 in Nairobi.
For any of the above teams to take part in Kabeberi 7s division they must be invited by Mwamba.
"The last team in division 1 will be relegated to division 2 in the next tournament and the winner in division 2 will be promoted to division 1 as seed 13," says a part of the applicable rule.
"The host may invite 3 teams to the tournament and in such a case 14th, 15th and 16th ranked teams will get relegated to the 2nd Division," says the other rule.
