The Kenya Rugby Union has dethroned MKU Thika as the Central region champions and declared Kiambu RFC as the rightful winners.
The two sides played last Saturday at JKUAT with MKU Thika winning 25-14 but an appeal was made against them for fielding an illegible player.
"MKU Thika were found guilty of fielding an ineligible player," said Kenya Rugby Union.
Morgan Rangita is the said player who MKU Titans coach Peter Mutai say he is registered with them "but has been away for internship and so he came back."
Kiambu RFC argued he played for KCB's ESS team and so cannot play for another team this season. Rangita started on the right wing during KCB's mathc against Impala II on Saturday March 24, 2018.
MKU Thika's situation means they finish second in Central and will not head directly to national quarterfinals. They will play a pre-quarterfinal against Coast nationwide cjhampions TUM Marines.
The new champions, Kiambu RFC, head to the national quarterfinal draw and will play Kitale RFC at home.
