Blak Blak from Kenyatta University became the new Kenya University Sports Association (KUSA) Champions after seeing off Strathmore Leos 24-7 in the fifth and final leg of Kings of Rugby at the University of Nairobi on Sunday 5 August.
Blak Blad’s win in the final was a perfect revenge over a Leos’ side that had knocked them 15-12 during the opening pool C match on Saturday.

The Sunday win was the third for Blak Blad adding on to those in the second and third legs in Mombasa and Kaimosi. It was their fourth final, which saw them end up with 98 points to become the new champions taking over from USIU who gave a mild attempt to defend their title this year.
On their way to the latest trophy Blak blak ousted their nemesis Masinde Muliro University (MMUST) 24-14 - the only side that had a chance to deny them the title - in the second semi to book Strathmore Leos in the final. The Madaraka-based side stopped spirited hosts Mean Machine 19-15 in the first semi.
Mean Machine had seen off first leg hosts Dedan Kimathi 19-0 in the quarters as Strathmore Leos took out Kabarak University 28-5.
MMUST, winners at Dedan Kimathi and finalists’ in Mombasa and Kaimosi, hit Nazarene University 21-5 at the last eight stage as Blak Blad had a narrow 10-7 escape over Zetech University.
As Blak Blad took home the overall title, host Mean Machine settled for Bronze with a 15-0 dispatch of MMUST as Cooperative went home with the plate after a 20-10 win over multimedia University. Bowl belonged to Dedan Kimathi after a 15-5 win over Zetech University.
