Kenyan pair in Vancouver 7s dream team

Collins Injera and Oscar Ouma made it to the best of the bet list of players at the close of Vancouver 7s, the sixth leg of the HSBC World Rugby Series on Monday 12 March 2018.

The two became the first Kenyan players to make it to the a dream in the 2017/18 season having led Shujaa to the final of the same tournament where Kenya bagged silver after dropping 31-12 to Fiji in the final game.

Injera, who missed the previous legs at Sydney and Hamilton 7s, was key to Kenya course as his turnover in the semis against USA allowed Ouma to race over for the winner to deliver a 24-19 win.

Injera was one of four back named to the Vancouver dream team besides John Porch (Australia) and Perry Baker (USA), who scored nine and seven tries respectively, as well as Eroni Sau of Fiji).

Ouma on his part led as a skipper on several occasions, and it is his final try that broke a spirited France in the first group game to allow Kenya to start on the high of a 14-7 win.

He was one of three backs named in the Vancouver list besides Dylan Sage of South Africa and Kalione Nasoko of Fiji.

Willy Ambaka

In a separate list, and with four tries, flyer Ambaka appeared as Kenya's best try scorer at Vancouver 7s.
