Up to 20 Kenya Lioness players will on Wednesday enter a five-day residential camp in Mombasa ahead of the 2017 Africa Cup sevens set for Saturday, September 16 in Tunisia.
Skipper Catherine Abilla, Philadelphia Olando, Celestine Masinde, Doreen Remour, Sheila Chajira, Janet Owino and Rachel Mbogo are some of the players who left Nairobi on Wednesday morning.
Head coach Kevin Wambua will name his final squad of 12 to head to Tunisia for the tournament that doubles up as African qualifiers for the 2018 Sevens World Cup.
Kenya is grouped in Pool B of the tournament together with Zimbabwe, Senegal and Madagascar as defending champions South Africa headline Pool A which also features Uganda, Morocco and hosts Tunisia.
Nakuru’s Grace Adhiambo, Northern Suburbs star Sinaida Aura, Janet Okello, Linet Moraa and Mwamba’s Prisca Nyerere make the squad.
