Kenya know victory over Namibia in Windhoek on Saturday will secure their place at Japan 2019 rather than entering the global repechage in November.
So who needs what to qualify directly to Japan or go through France -repehcage?
If Namibia wins the match then they qualify for the RWC regardless of bonus points-
Namibia : 24 points / Kenya : 17 points (plus bonus points if applicable but Namibia will still have the lead).
If Kenya wins the match then they qualify for the RWC regardless of bonus points -
Namibia : 20 points or 21 points with a defensive bonus points / Kenya : 21 points or 22 points with an attacking bonus point
So in case both teams end up with 21 points each, the winner of the match involving both teams wins the tournament, hence in this scenario Kenya would win.
That means the winner of Saturday’s match is the winner of the Gold Cup and there will be no a situation where the loser of the match could still be the winner of the competition.
Runners-up, Africa 2, will head to global repechage in France during the November test window for the last chance to qualify for the World Cup. They will play Canada, Germany and Hong Kong.
