Kenya U20 Chipu sits third in pool A of the ongoing World Rugby Junior trophy ahead of match-day 3 on Wednesday July 17 in Brazil.

Kenya has four points courtesy of Saturday’s 26-24 win over hosts Brazil who trail in pool A with two points.

Japan leads with 10 points followed by second placed Uruguay at six.

Kenya’s last pool match is against Japan on Wednesday at 11pm Kenyan time as Uruguay takes on Brazil in the other pool match at 1am.

Portugal leads in pool B with 10 points, same as second placed Tonga but with an inferior goal difference as Canada sit third with two points while Hong Kong are fourth with no point.

After the second round of the World Rugby U2O Trophy 2019, Japan, Portugal and Tonga have a maximum of 10 points to their name following back-to-back bonus-point wins.

Japan's win over Uruguay in a high-scoring match means they have a four-point cushion over Los Teritos in Pool A and, barring a disastrous showing against Kenya, look certain to make the final on 21 July, while Portugal and Tonga, who are tied on 10 points at the top of Pool B, are set for a winner-takes-all showdown on Wednesday to see who will progress to the showpiece match and give themselves the chance to win promotion to the U20 Championship.
