Kenya 7s named sevens great Collins Injera for the forthcoming Hamilton and Sydney 7s legs of 2020 HSBC World Sevens Series.

Injera missed 2018/19 HSBC World Sevens Series.

He returned to action in 2019 at Safari 7s but featured on day one only as he suffered an injury that saw him miss Dubai and Cape Town 7s.

The Mwamba RFC star has 271 tries at the World Sevens series, second all time. England’s Dan Norton has 346.

The 33-year old will hope to play his 410th match at Hamilton 7s.

Kenya 7s head coach Paul Feeney speaking from New Zealand told kru.co.ke that:
” I am excited getting Collins back in the mix. He’s obviously a very influential player. He trained the house down before the first series tournaments but couldn’t go.It’s great to have him back with the boys…looking forward to him adding to his try scoring list too.”

Also making the travelling party is KCB speedster and Geoffrey Okwach who is in line to make his Sevens series debut. The duo, alongside Herman Humwa are the three changes from the team that did duty in Dubai and Cape Town.

“Getting Okwach on the side…great young talent…he gets his opportunity in the next couple of legs. We saw what he can do in the Safari Sevens and I am looking forward to him stepping up and showing the world what he can do.  Herman is in for the these two tournaments, they are the three changes. ”

Jacob Ojee and Oscar Dennis will miss the Ocenia tour through injury while Kabras Sugar forward Dan Sikuta is rested.

The men’s event at Hamilton 7s sees the hosts and current joint series leaders the All Blacks Sevens drawn with Scotland, USA and Wales in Pool A.

Fellow joint series leaders South Africa, who were victorious in Dubai, will take on Kenya, England and invitational team Japan in Pool B.

Third placed France will be looking to keep their strong run of form going as they face Ireland, Canada and Spain in Pool C, while reigning Olympic and Series champions Fiji will play Argentina, Australia and Samoa in Pool D.
